It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Edward Asher, Jr. of Columbia, age 69, who left us on March 16, 2024.  Born on May 17, 1954, Ed was the oldest son of Clarence Edward and Hazel Louise (Barnett) Asher.

He fondly remembered his childhood, filled with love and laughter.  He had six siblings. Ed graduated from Fayette High School in 1972 and attended Automotive Technical School in Phoenix, Arizona.  His life journey led him to cross paths with his beloved wife, Davida.  Ed’s kindness, warmth and infectious laughter will be sorely missed but never forgotten by his loved ones.

Ed’s life was a story of love, resilience, and enduring family values.  Ed was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the numerous ways in which he touched our lives.  His presence will be missed, but his memories continue to live among us, reminding us of his unique spirit.

His memory will forever be engraved in our hearts.  His journey upon earth may have ended, but his spirit remains eternal, watching over us and guiding us as we remember him.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Barbara Gibson, Dolly Piotrowski, Susan Wilson and brother, Timothy Asher.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Davida (Eastwood) Asher who stood by him during the hardships and joyous times.  His sons, Troy (Amanda), Joshua (Misty) Asher and daughter, Patrisha (James) carry on his name and his legacy.   Also surviving are his stepchildren, Johnna (Wayne) O’Bryan, Stephanie (Rob) Newmann, Larry (Tara) Durham and Teresa (James) Williams, twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.  The bond he shared with his family was evident in his unwavering dedication to their happiness and well-being.  Ed’s caring nature and love of family continues in those he leaves behind.

Services honoring Ed’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette.  Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Condolences may be shared at www.carryager.com.

Carr-Yager Funeral Home is honored to serve the Asher family.
