The Clark Middle School softball team jumped off to a great start in the 2021 season.
The girls started the season with a 23-0 victory over Hallsville on September 9. Payton Kindle entered the circle on September 8 against the Pintos and hurled a no-hitter, striking out six in three innings. Browyn Eubanks had two triples, and Brooklyn Wies added a double. They won the second game 18-9 with Eubanks pitching.
On September 9 they traveled to California to once again face the Pintos. This time Kindle pitched another shutout with a 15-0 victory while striking out eight. Kindle got the scoring started with a two-run double in the top of the first. Leah Thies added an RBI-triple later in the game. The girls would win the night cap 11-7 with Eubanks pitching.
After winning the Salisbury tournament, the girls went defeated Versailles 16-1 on September 13. Kindle pitched and earned the win striking out five over four innings. She also hit a two-run inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the first. Brooklyn Wies added four RBIs with a double and single.
Fayette lost the late game 7-6 with Eubanks taking the loss after a well-pitched game. Eubanks helped herself as she plated three runs when she hit an inside-the-park home run in the game.
CMS then faced conference foe Westran on Thursday and again came away victorious, 9-2. Kindle struck out 10 batters over five innings for the win. She added three singles and two RBIs for the game. Addi Gibbs also collected two RBIs, while Leah Thies hit a double and drove in a run as well. The girls went on to win the night cap 12-11 with Eubanks getting the win.
The girls play next at Versailles today at 5 p.m.
