The Clark Middle School girls basketball team won Salisbury St. Joseph “Cinnamon Roll” tournament during the week of November 14-18. It marked the first time in eight years the Lady Falcons had won the tournament.
Teams that participated in this tournament was St. Joe, Fayette, Slater, Westran, St. Mary’s and St. Pius.
After receiving a first-round bye, Fayette defeated Slater 36-16 in the seminfinals. The Lady Falcons outscored Slater 21-3 in the first half. Paige Vroman had 13 points on the night, followed by Addy Gibbs with 11. Kennady Vroman finished with seven points, Greycen Syferd with, and Emma Hilgedick with.
Fayette finished the game shooting a cool 73% from the free-throw line.
The Lady Falcons cruised to a 42-26 title win over Salisbury for the championship on Friday, November 18.
Fayette jumped ahead early with a 14-4 run in the first quarter. Salisbury worked its way back into the game, outsourcing the Lady Falcons in the second quarter with a 14-5 run to trail Fayette 19-18 at halftime. Fayette explode out of the gate in the second half and strung together double-digit runs to run away with the game. Fayette’s defense held Salisbury to just eight points in the second half.
Addy Gibbs finished the night with 18 points, followed by Paige Vroman with 13, Sida Gregory with four, Kennady Vroman with three, Kadence Sulltrop and Emma Hilgedick both with two. Fayette cooled off at the line but still managed to make 64% from the charity stripe.
With the title, Fayette improved its record is 6-2 on the season. Fayette returns to action on December 1 with a home game against Salisbury. On December 19, the Lady Falcons host Lady of Lourdes.
