The No. 12 Central Methodist volleyball team swept Heart South Division rival Benedictine College by scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-5, Saturday night inside Puckett Field House.

With the win, CMU improves to 12-2 and 3-0 in Heart South Division play, while the Ravens fall to 6-7 and 1-2 in conference action.

The Eagles controlled the match from start to finish, nearly winning each set by double-digits. Central opened the third set on a 9-0 scoring run, and ultimately claimed set three by a final of 25-5.

It was a notable night for senior middle blocker Grace Unvvik as she tallied her 1,000th career kill over her time at both Missouri State West Plains CC and CMU with a kill late in the first set. As an Eagle, she currently sits in fourth place all-time in career kills with 794.

Sophomore Callie Henson led the Central offense with 10 kills on 17 swings, good for a .529 hitting percentage. Senior Jordan Wolf wasn’t far behind as she tallied nine kills along with two block assists.

Sophomore  Krystal Brauner recorded 12 digs followed by Freshman Annabelle Maassen with seven. Brauner matched her season-high with four service aces, and junior Marina Alonso once again led the setters with a game-high 16 assists.

Overall, Central finished the evening with a .352 hitting percentage compared to .029 for the Ravens.

Central remained at home for the second match of a four-game home stand when they faced Missouri Valley College on Tuesday. That match was played after the Advertiser went to press. CMU’s next action will be Friday against Clarke at 7 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
