The Howard County Courthouse is getting new insulation. Installation began last week, and phase one is expected to be complete by mid-November.
Phase one includes the main floor of the 1888 building and water loop. Butzer Mechanical of Jefferson City is the general contractor for the project.
The cost for the first phase will range from $60,000 to $70,000. Phase two, which will include the basement and fresh air intake, is estimated to cost significantly more. No local tax dollars are being spent. The entire project will be paid for with the county’s remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, commissioners say.
