Members of the Fayette Athletic Boosters were hard at work the first of last week, beatifying and improving the entranceway to the softball field.
The entrance to the field, located along Spring Street from the Daly Elementary School parking lot, has deteriorated over the last several seasons where a bridge crosses a creek. Work along the bridge included removal of a tree growing out of the creek area, new railings, new railroad ties, and fresh gravel.
The cost of the project totaled $1,575.61, which was all materials. Athletic Boosters board member Tommy Kindle led the project with fellow board members Jenny Vroman, Paula Thies, Heather Hilgedick, and Justin Cross donating their labor. Nathan Vroman, Mike Thies, and Mike Hilgegdick also volunteered their time.
The project started Monday afternoon, July 22, and wrapped up the following evening.
Fayette’s high school softball team begins fall practices on Monday, August 12, and looks to continue its streak of dominant seasons under new head coach Bri Moore. The Lady Falcons have won 20 or more games four out of the last five seasons.
The Lady Falcons kick off the season with their own pre-season Jamboree on Tuesday, August 27. They host Battle for their first home game on September 3.
