Fayette Main St. facade program helps fund downtown beautification and improvements

Posted

A business and a historic building in downtown Fayette have benefited from funds provided by Fayette Main Street, Inc. Checks were presented on Wednesday, December 22, to Chris Ocker with Edward Jones, and to the Fayette Area Heritage Association (FAHA).

The organization presented a reimbursement check in the amount of $1,631.38 to Ocker, which paid for half of a new awning in front of the business on the north side of the downtown square. The funding was made possible by Main Street’s Facade Improvement program. Business and property owners may apply for 50% of a project up to a maximum of $2,000.

Main Street also presented a check for $2,500 to FAHA to help pay for tuckpointing and chimney repair for the Uriel S. Wright Building. The 1828 two-story brick building serves as the FAHA headquarters and as office for Fayette Main Street.
