The Fayette school district on Thursday took possession of a new 77-passenger school bus.
The district’s Board of Education in December approved the purchase of the 2025 Blue Bird Vision with a Cummins Diesel for $125,190. The bus is now the largest in the district’s fleet with a capacity of 77 passengers, 11 more than the bus it is replacing. Most of Fayette’s 10 large buses hold 71 passengers. The district also has one short bus.
Instead of trading in the old bus, the district will surplus the 2007 66-passenger Thomas Safe-T-Liner and is taking bids. According to the district, the engine has 133,845 miles. Maintenance includes a new fuel tank in 2022, new brake pads, rotors, calipers, and WSS. New batteries were installed last year. The bus has good tires and passed Missouri State Highway Patrol inspection on March 11.
The school district will accept bids that can be delivered to Central Office anytime between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. A starting price was not announced by the district.
