Enrollment at the Fayette school district has risen by five pupils, according to the latest count on September 14. Total enrollment district-wide tops out at 639. Including pre-kindergarten, the district boasts 674 students.
Superintendent Brent Doolin told the Board of Education at its most recent meeting on Wednesday, September 18, that the addition of five students is average growth for a school the size of Fayette.
The most significant increase occurred in the elementary school. There are 292 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, up from 280 a year ago. Enrollment in pre-kindergarten is also up by four students, with 39 this year.
The number of middle students in grades six through eight has increased to 155, up from 149 a year ago. The only decrease occurred in the high school, which is down 13 students, falling from 205 last year to 192 across grades nine through 12.
