Fayette High School will confer diplomas to 47 seniors during its annual commencement exercises at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Former teacher Kim Eaton will serve as the keynote speaker for Sunday’s ceremony.
Mrs. Eaton is a respected educator and familiar face within the Fayette R-3 School District. A native of Ewing, Mo., she was graduated from Highland High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Science from Central Methodist College and went on to complete her master’s in education from Central Methodist University.
Mrs. Eaton dedicated 24 years to public education, with 10 years spent teaching Elementary Physical Education and Health, and 14 years serving as the district’s Focus Room teacher. In addition to her classroom experience, she was a committed coach, leading middle school girls’ basketball and softball teams.
Now retired, Mrs. Eaton continues to serve the Fayette community as a substitute teacher. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys participating in local craft shows and farmers markets as a vendor, showcasing her creativity and love for handmade goods.
Mrs. Eaton will confer her experiences and wisdom to this year’s graduating class. The commencement ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the FHS gymnasium.
Sunday is a popular day for area high school graduations. Along with Fayette, Glasgow, New Franklin, and Harrisburg all hold their commencement exercises at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Higbee will host its graduation at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
See Pages 13-24 of the print and e-editions for names and photos of graduates from all five high schools.
