Four Fayette Lady Falcons picked up All-Conference and All-District postseason accolades. Fayette finished 21-6 overall, winning at least 20 games for the third straight season, and was ranked seventh in the state as of September 25.

Junior Skylar Sunderland and sophomore Leah Thies were among three batteries to earn All-District honors. Sunderland, Fayette’s ace, had another outstanding season, finishing with 17 wins against six losses and an ERA of 1.291.

For Thies, this was her first year as a starting varsity catcher. She allowed only 18 passed balls in 135.1 innings behind the plate and threw out four steal attempts.

Both players were significant threats at the plate on offense as well. Sunderland posted a second-best batting average of .434 with a team-high .632 slugging percentage and 1.174 OPS. She led the team in extra-base hits with 10 doubles, a triple, and a home run, and drove in a team-best 35 RBI, while only striking out four times all season.

Thies batted .316 with an OPS of .906. She led the team in home runs with three, hit six doubles, and drove in 24 runs.

Senior outfielder Addison Powell was Fayette’s third and final first-team All-State selection. She finished with a fielding percentage of .846 with 21 putouts and only four errors on the season. On offense, she led the team in hits with 38 and posted a team-best batting average of .469. She scored a team-high 36 runs and drove in 10 runs. Her speed and experience were on full display on the base paths. She finished with the most stolen bases on the team, with 22 on 22 attempts.

Third baseman Addy Gibbs earned second-team All-District honors as a freshman, posting a .325 batting average with an OPS of .886. Even as a freshman, Gibbs showed power at the plate, blasting 10 extra-base hits, including nine doubles and a triple, with a second-best 28 RBI on the season.

The Falcons also boasted several All-Conference honors in their final season in the Lewis & Clark. Fayette finished second overall in conference standings with seven wins and one loss. The lone blemish was a 10-3 loss at rival Marceline, allowing the Tigers to reclaim the L&C crown after Fayette won it for the first time ever last season.

Powell and Sunderland earned first-team honors, with Thies nabbing a spot on the second team. Gibbs was named to the third team.
