Fundraiser to stop human trafficking Oct. 24

A fundraising event for Stronger Together 4 O.U.R. Kids to benefit Operation Underground Railroad will take place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 24 at the Fayette High school Gym. Cheyenne Cook, Mid-Missouri O.U.R team leader, has partnered with local businesses Mackenzie Wells Fitness, Gold Apple Boutique, and Central Missouri Transmission to put on an a live workout event lead by personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Mackenzie Wells. With the generous donations of the sponsors of this event, 100% of the proceeds go to O.U.R.

While the pre-registration period has ended, walk-ins are welcome on the day of the event. The cost is $15. Door prizes have been donated by local business such as Intricut Creations and Sauced Boutique, that have partnered to help sponsor the event.

According to ourrescue.org, Operation Underground Railroad was founded in 2013 and since then has gathered the world's experts in extraction operations and anti-child trafficking efforts to bring an end to child slavery. O.U.R.’s Ops Team consists of former CIA, past and current law enforcement, and highly skilled operatives that lead coordinated identification and extraction efforts. These operations are always in conjunction with law enforcement throughout the world.

“These are real children, real people, and a real problem that is not just thousands of miles away from home but right here in mid-Missouri,” Cook said.

Operation Underground Railroad was so named after the underground railroad that created a path to freedom during the American Civil War.

Unlike other 501(c)3 organizations, 85% of all donations are spent directly on assessing the feasibility of rescue, researching the location, designing a strategy for rescuing the children, taking action to infiltrate as undercover operatives and recovering the children. Care doesn’t stop at removing the child from their trafficker and that’s why O.U.R. goes beyond to partner with highly trained and vetted aftercare facilities to provide basic care and therapy to help them readjust to a better world.
