Captain Dusty L. Hoffman, director of Governor’s Security Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, is being named division director and transferring to Public Information and Education Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, effective immediately.
Hoffman was born in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School. He joined in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in Texas, Alaska, and the Republic of Panama. Hoffman was honorably discharged in 1992. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Columbia College in 2004, and later completed Leadership In Police Organizations through the International Association of Chiefs of Police in 2013. Captain Hoffman and his wife, Sunny, have four children.
Hoffman was appointed to the Patrol on August 1, 1993, as a member of the 66th Recruit Class. After graduating from the Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 6, Moniteau and Morgan counties. He transferred to Zone 3, Boone County, on May 1, 1995. Hoffman was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone 7, Cooper and Howard Counties, on December 1, 2001. On May 1, 2003, he transferred to the Gaming Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City. Hoffman was promoted to sergeant on October 15, 2006. He transferred to the Governor’s Security Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City, on September 19, 2010. On January 1, 2014, he was promoted to lieutenant and designated assistant director of the Research and Development Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City. On April 1, 2017, he was promoted to the rank of captain and assigned as the director of the Governor’s Security Division.
