A seven-run fourth inning clinched the win for Pilot Grove over Glasgow on Monday night, 10-0 in five innings.
The Tigers one-hit the Yellowjackets as freshman Thomas Schuster held the Glasgow bats silent while striking out seven of 17 batters faced without issuing a walk.
Glasgow’s lone hit was a single by junior Andrew Cropp to lead off the top of the third. But he was thrown out advancing to second during the next at-bat on a ground ball by Brody Adams.
Senior Bronson Foster took the loss for the Yellowjackets after surrendering eight runs (5 earned) on four hits and six walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out four batters in his season debut.
Junior Jaden DeMint allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks in one complete inning.
Pilot Grove drove in 10 runs on seven hits, including doubles by Schuster and Waylon Monteer. The Tigers struck out just four times and were issued eight walks.
The Jackets were scheduled to face Westran (1-1) for their home opener on Tuesday after the Advertiser went to press. Glasgow stays home to host Marceline (0-2) on Friday.
