Marvin Hilgedick officially retired on Wednesday, November 24, after 33 years serving as a lineman for the City of Fayette. Co-workers, friends, and elected officials attended a reception that was held at the Fayette Fire Station. Fayette Mayor Kevin Oeth thanked Hilgedick for his many years of service.
Hilgedick kept Fayette’s power on for more than three decades. He was often observed aloft in the city’s bucket truck working on power lines during winter weather and thunderstorms. During ice storms last winter, he worked for more than 70 hours straight to restore power to the citizens of Fayette.
Ever a man of few words, Hilgedick said he was “nervous” and “excited,” about retirement.
