Glasgow, Missouri, resident Jeff Boggs, age 66, passed away at Glasgow Gardens on October 16, 2022.
Jeffrey Lee Boggs was born December 29, 1955, in Moberly, Missouri, a son to Melvin Boggs and the late Martha (Duren) Monnig. He attended Glasgow High School, where he enjoyed participating in and excelling in all sports. Jeff graduated from GHS with the class of 1974. After high school, Jeff attended Columbia College, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team. Before he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Jeff worked for the Marshall MFA, Glasgow Co-op, and as an exterminator for Presto-X. Jeff truly loved all things sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is a two-time member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, both honors from being involved with the Glasgow men’s basketball program and being a part of a state championship team that went undefeated.
Survivors include his two daughters, Jessica Bynum of Columbia, Missouri, and Emily Boggs of Hallsville, Missouri; Father, Melvin (Pat) Boggs of New Franklin, Missouri; four granddaughters, Payton, Annabelle, Sophia, and Shelby; sister, Linda (Billy) Nordmeyer of Glasgow, Missouri; two half-sisters, Erin Boggs and Allyx (Melissa) Boggs; eight step-siblings, Tim (Carol) Monnig, John (Jan) Monnig, Ron Monnig, Jay (Emily) Evans, Matt (Kaelin) Evans, Sara Evans, Lesley (Ryan) Lyons, and Ashley (Aaron) Robinson; and sister-in-law, Natalie Monnig. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives.
In addition to his mother, Jeff was preceded in death by his step-father, Bob Monnig, and step-brother Tom “Bear” Monnig.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Washington Cemetery in Glasgow, with Rev. Sandra Enyard officiating.
