Fire and rescue personnel remind people to make sure their pets and farm animals to not walk out onto frozen bodies of water.
On February 2, around a dozen firemen from the Fayette Fire Department responded to a farm on State Route W after three calves fell through the ice and into a freezing cold pond. At least one person fell through the ice trying to get to the calves.
A spokesman for the department said the farmer and his three calves were all rescued. The man warmed up in the fire truck and did not require hospitalization. All three calves reportedly survived.
Subfreezing temperatures forecast throughout the week.
