Mattie Virginia Waters, 91, of Boonville, MO passed away August 9, 2024, at University of Missouri Hospital.
Mattie was born in rural Howard County on April 27, 1933, a daughter of Charles William and Mattie Inez “Rugg” Waters. She was a member of Boonesboro Christian Church in her younger years and had been employed with area nursing homes as a caregiver. Mattie enjoyed caring for her flower gardens when she was able and her animals. She especially loved her great nieces and nephews whom she lovingly called her “babies.”
Those left to honor her memory include a brother Charles W. Waters of Franklin, MO; sisters Elsie Waters of Boonville, MO, Phyllis Maggard of Boonville and Ellen Garrison of Broken Arrow, OK; nieces and nephews Michael Garrison, Christy Josefchuk, Tammie Market, Jack Maggard and Leilani Maggard; great nieces and nephews “her babies” Emily Gross, Ashleigh Maggard, Kaitlyn Maggard, Spencer Gross, Michael Garrison, Andrew Garrison, Benjamin Garrison, Richard Josefchuk, and Ethan Josefchuk. Also surviving are her caregivers and friends at Ashley Manor in Boonville.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents Charles William and Mattie Inez Waters and a sister Mary Martha Waters.
Services honoring Mattie’s life was held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2024, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment followed the service at Boonesboro Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ashley Manor Activities Fund.
