Fayette Middle School boys basketball coach Mike James’s team faced several difficult obstacles Tuesday evening, the biggest of which were two Harrisburg teams that kept a full court press on for most of both games. Payton Oeth led Falcon scorers with 17 points as Fayette fell to the Bulldogs 58-36 in the “A” game. Bryce Ott led all scorers with 21 points, on seven of 10 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

In the “B” game, Harrisburg won 50-34 after leading 26-17 at the half. Caleb Sager led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Oeth led Fayette scoring in the “B” game with six points.

Wednesday night was a different story for the Falcons as the boys “A” team traveled to take on the Bulldogs of New Franklin. Leading only 14-10 at the end of the first half, Fayette more than doubled that output in the second half beating New Franklin 44-28. Lane Hackman paced the Bulldog scoring with 8 points as Fayette’s Kaleb Friebe led all scorers with 17.

Harrisburg then traveled to New Franklin on Thursday.  New Franklin turned their fortunes around beating Harrisburg 36-17. New Franklin coach Jim Schlotzhauer was pleased with his team’s turnaround.  “We did a good job of competing against a much more physical team. That was a big change from the Fayette game.Hopefully that physicality keeps up.”
