New Franklin uses five-run inning to top Central Realty

A big first inning propelled New Franklin to a 7-3 win over Central Realty in a Babe Ruth game in Boonville on Thursday night. New Franklin sent nine batters to the plate during a five-run first inning.

Tanner Bishop had an RBI double to put the Bulldogs up 2-0 early. Sawyer Felten drove in a run with a two-out single and Drake Clark reached on an error to score two more. Clayton Wilmsmeyer led off the inning with a single and scored the game’s first run on a wild pitch.

Wilmsmeyer doubled in the fourth inning to finish 2-4 at the plate.

Bishop singled and scored in the third inning. He finished 2-3 with a walk, three steals, two runs, and an RBI. Jacob Marshall had an RBI double in the third inning. Clark and Ryan Hundley each went 1-3 at the plate.

Keaton Eads made the start and gave up three runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven. Bishop threw two innings of relief and did not allow a hit. He walked two and struck out four.

For Central Realty, Cash Valencia pitched three scoreless innings of relief. He allowed two hits and four walks. He struck out four batters. Garrett Hundley was 1-1 with two walks. Rhodes Leonard was 2-3 and drove in two runs.
