The Fayette Optimist Club made a donation in the amount of $500 last week to Fayette Fury, a youth cross country team.
Team director Erica DeWoolfe recently reached out to the club, which serves youth programs throughout town.
“Erica reached out to me to see if the Optimist Club could help her with the entry fees for this year as she learns the ropes of running the program, so we are supporting her with a $500 donation,” said Optimist President Brian Spielbauer. “The Optimist Club seeks to help kids in our community and Howard County as a whole, particularly if it involves youth activities that provide some level of fitness and character development. We are proud to help her as it falls right in line with the other programs we support.
Additional programs served by the Optimist Club include youth football, flag football, youth cheer, and the fishing derby. The club is also the main supporter of the Fayette Summer Rec program. All of the funds the club raises throughout the year, from events such as the annual Power Pull, and BBQs, support these programs.
