Ottis P. Lawson Jr, of Franklin passed away Thursday morning May 2, 2024, at his home.
Ottis Paul Lawson Jr., was born in Ogallala, Nebraska on January 23, 1955, the son of Ottis Paul Lawson Sr., and Joan Marie Thost. He married Sandra A. Brandes-LeCure on July 1, 1990, in New Franklin, Missouri.
Ottis was a Union heavy equipment operator for eight years, proceeding his retirement from Butternut Bakery after 24 years. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and going to farm auctions. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Ottis was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis Sr. and Joan and sister, Lois Dobson.
He is survived by his wife Sandi of the home; sons, Ottis (Connie) Lawson III, of Boonville, MO, Jay LeCure (Hannah) of Franklin, MO, Larry (Cheyenne) Lawson of Fayette, MO, Lorne (Kallie) Lawson of Franklin, MO; daughters, Jessica Lawson of Boonville, MO, and Jessica (Don) Copenhaver of Hallsville, MO. Also surviving are his sisters, Ruth Browning of Boonville, MO, Shelia Friedrich of Ashland, MO; grandchildren, Sydney (Stephen), Ethan, Connor, Ali, Peyton, Abram, Lenny Sue, Clay, Dakota, Jared, Sawyer, Miller, McCoy, Suttyn, Bailey and Brandon and great-grandchildren, Beckham, Zaylee, and Zaylynn.
Visitation for Ottis will be Monday evening May 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Howard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning May 7 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Joshua Ketelsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Boonesboro Cemetery.
