Ruth Ann Owen, age 81, a longtime Fayette resident, passed away on January 2, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Ruth Ann was born at Lee Hospital in Fayette on October 14, 1943, a daughter of Charles and Ruth Lay Innes. Prior to retiring, Ruth Ann was employed with the National Garment Company, the Highway Café, the Home Variety Store, and many remember her as serving students and staff at the Fayette Public Schools as a cook. She enjoyed sewing, going fishing, and feeding and watching hummingbirds. She always had a sweet smile and was loved by all. Her family was much loved and loved by her. She enjoyed her role as grandma and kept up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and achievements.
Those cherishing her memory and example include her daughter, Tammy Beeler, and son-in-law, Paul; a brother, Chuck Innes; a sister, Mary Zimmerman; grandchildren, Shelby Young (Brad), Kelsey Dobson (Ross), and Rylee Beeler (Rae Davis); and great-grandchildren, Claire Young, Beckham Dobson, Baylor Dobson, and Jace Davis; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Danny Owen, and a brother, Eddie Innes.
Funeral services honoring Ruth Ann will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette, with Rev. Harold Young and Rev. Jamie Page officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday evening, January 10, 2025, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested payable to the Fayette Ministerial Alliance to be used for the Buddy Pack Program to help local school children.
