Lifelong Fayette, MO resident, Sarah Overstreet, age 95, passed away peacefully at Glasgow Gardens nursing facility in Glasgow, MO on August 12, 2024.
Sarah Ann Overstreet was born in Fayette on April 25, 1929. She was daughter to the late Merle and Helen Elizabeth (Pemberton) Ballew. Sarah graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1948. On November 23, 1951, Sarah married the love of her life, Charles R. Overstreet. The couple shared eight children, and enjoyed over 56 years of marriage until Charlie passed on January 30, 2008. Sarah worked as a teller for Commercial Trust Co. in Fayette for many years and was a member of the First Christian Church of Fayette.
Survivors include seven children, Steve (Debbie) Overstreet of Boonville, MO, Marty (Glenda) Overstreet of Fayette, MO, Karen Walmsley of Leesville, LA, Fred (Theresa) Overstreet of Slocolm, AL, Chuck (Peggy) Overstreet of Waukegan, IL, Julie (Bill) Faint of Cherry Tree, PA, and Lora Brown of Leesville, LA, as well as 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sarah was preceded in death by a son, Larry, a sister, Merlee Bateman, and brother, J.W. Ballew.
A private family graveside memorial service was held at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette, with Rev. Mike Jackman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Salvation Army.
