Franklin resident Yolanda Boggs, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on March 14, 2024, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Yolanda L. Boggs was born on January 5, 1951, in Kansas City, Mo. She was one of three children born to Lewis and Dollie (Reed) Chappell. Yolanda’s family moved to Franklin, Mo., early in her life. Yolanda attended New Franklin High School and later earned her GED. On January 11, 1969, Yolanda married Carl Edward Boggs in Boonville, Mo. The couple enjoyed over 39 years of marriage until Carl’s passing on July 18, 2008. On top of being a loving spouse and raising her family, Yolanda spent most of her career working for Nordyne factory in Boonville. She worked at Nordyne for 20 years as a supervisor. Oftentimes, following her workday at the factory, Yolanda would come home and continue working on the family’s farm. Yolanda was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan. She was also a devout member of Riverside Christian Church of Boonville, Mo.

Survivors include her two children, Tim (Allison) Boggs of Holts Summit, Mo. and Shelly (Gene) Lee of Columbia, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon) Fisher, Garrett Boggs, Justin (Ashlee) Boggs, Cassie Lee, Corey Lee, Connie Yaeger, Brady Boggs and Brett Boggs; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rodney (Colleen) Chappell of Cole City, Ill. In addition to her husband and parents, Yolanda was preceded in death by a son, Dustin Allen “Dusty” Boggs, and a brother, Stanley Chappell.

Visitation was from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Home in Fayette, Mo. A funeral service honoring Yolanda’s life was at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Boonesboro Christian Church in Boonesboro, Mo. Interment followed the service at Boonesboro Cemetery.
