There will be no Fayette Advertiser delivered next week. The publication date would have been Dec. 31, 2025.
The Advertiser is prepared each week by only two people, myself and Linda Vroman. And it is important for us to step away from the office for the final week of the year to be with our families. We will still cover any breaking news over the holiday break, which will be published on our website: www.FayetteNewspapers.com.
In a time where community newspapers are closing at a rate of two a week across the country, it has become exceedingly rare for small towns like ours to have a full-time news presence, not counting the unreliability of the social media rumor mill. With production costs rising each year, it is only possible to keep printing with the support of local advertisers. As you read this edition, look carefully at all of the businesses and groups that have advertised their holiday messages in our annual Christmas edition. These are what keep Fayette and Howard County running. And for those who still value local journalism, keep them in mind when you decide how you spend your money, because they care about local journalism, this newspaper, and our community.
Advertising is what keeps the lights on and presses running.
In the meantime, the staff of the Advertiser wishes all of our readers and advertisers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, we still hope this is a joyous time for you and yours.
The Advertiser will resume publication on Jan. 7, 2026. By then, all filings for school boards and city councils will have been completed, businesses and schools will have resumed, and the historic and always excellent New Franklin Basketball Tournament will be in full swing (see brackets on Page 7).
Take care of yourselves, your families, your friends, and those in our community. We look forward to reporting the news of 2026!
