Clayton Garrett Hogg, 15, of Fayette, MO, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2026.
Clayton was born in Columbia, MO, on March 31, 2011, to Justin Hogg and Ashlee Hogg (Skaggs).
Clayton was a boy who truly loved life. He lived in the moment, embraced adventure, and wasn’t afraid to take chances. He had a free spirit, a heart full of love, and a personality that made him unforgettable. He knew how to have fun, how to make people laugh, and how to turn ordinary days into memories. And oh, that smile—it was the kind of smile that made your day feel so much better simply because he was a part of it. At just 15 years old, he already made an impression on so many lives, leaving behind a love that will never fade and memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Clayton had a love for most sports, but especially basketball and golf, and was most recently excited to be playing baseball for Fayette High School in the spring. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, where he was proud to display his trophies and talk to you about the days he and his brother James would compete at the racetrack. Clayton loved the outdoors. The woods were his quiet place. Regardless of if he was tracking deer or listening for the call of a turkey, he loved the sport of hunting. He also had a passion for gaming and was looking forward to his plans for going pro. While he loved all games, his favorite was Fortnite. When he wasn’t playing sports, riding dirt bikes, hunting, or gaming, you would find Clayton spending time with family and making memories with his friends. Whether he was out on the baseball field, in the woods hunting, laughing with his buddies, or simply enjoying time with his family, Clayton was doing what he loved: living life his way. Those moments may have seemed like everyday life at the time, but they have now become priceless memories that his family and friends will carry in their hearts forever.
Above all, Clayton loved his family and friends, and the time he spent with them meant more than words could ever express. It was in the simple moments—the conversations, the jokes, the laughter, the time spent together—that so much of his love was felt. His family will forever treasure the memories of his smile, his voice, his personality, and all the little things that made him special.
Though Clayton’s time on earth was heartbreakingly brief, his life should be remembered by the love he gave, the happiness he brought, the friendships he formed, and the memories he created. To everyone who knew him, Clayton will remain a reminder of how deeply one young life can touch so many hearts.
Clayton will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his parents, Justin Hogg and wife Loria, Ashlee Skaggs and husband Ryan, six siblings: James Hogg, Kolby Skaggs, Hayley Gordon, Jayden Gordon, Paisley Hogg, and Rylee Skaggs, all of Fayette; Paternal grandparents, John and Theresa Hogg of Boonville, Debbie Sims of Boonville; Maternal grandparents, Debbie and Roy Bane of LaPlata; Maternal great grandmother Geraldine Finley of Ashland; Aunt Dayla Botts (Steven) of Fayette; Uncles Scott Barney of Columbia, Brandon Richerson (Courtney) of New Franklin, and Austin Bane (Tonya) of LaPlata; numerous cousins and countless friends.
Clayton was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Norman “Dale” Erickson, grandparents Larry and Jeanie Skaggs, and numerous great grandparents.
Services honoring Clayton’s life will be held at Faith Family Church, 710 Highway 240 Fayette MO, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services to follow. Graveside services where Clayton will be laid to rest will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly, MO, immediately following the funeral service.
