The Central Methodist University Conservatory Singers and Chorale will perform as the Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia celebrates its 100th anniversary with a special concert on Monday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. The program, Fire & Light: Reflections on the Power of Fire and the Enduring Promise of Light, will be include performances from CMU under the direction of Dr. Thomas Clark, with collaborative artist Janet O’Neill.
The evening will feature powerful works that explore creation, renewal, and hope, including Lloyd Pfautsch’s jubilant Consecrate the Place and Day, Ryan Main’s dramatic Dies Irae, and Morten Lauridsen’s lyrical Sure on This Shining Night. The program also highlights Katerina Gimon’s fiery and innovative Fire, Ola Gjeilo’s shimmering Northern Lights, and Dolly Parton’s beloved Light of a Clear Blue Morning arranged by Craig Hella Johnson. The concert concludes with Craig Courtney’s radiant Let There Be Light.
