The Fayette community is mourning the death of teenager Clayton Hogg, who took his own life on Thursday morning, October 22. The following day, Fayette and Harrisburg players and fans came together for a prayer circle (above) before the football game. A moment of silence was observed prior to kickoff.
That morning, Faith Family Church welcomed parents, students, and staff, along with a critical support team.
Clayton, 15, was a sophomore at Fayette High School, where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams.
In a statement to parents, Fayette Superintendent Brent Doolin said school staff was “working with community crisis resources to help students and faculty with this tragic loss to our Falcon Family.”
The district is receiving support services from the county’s Critical Incident Family Support Team. Counselors were at school on Thursday and were expected to return on Tuesday to be available for students and staff.
Classes were canceled on Wednesday to allow all students and staff to attend the services for Clayton and to be there for his family.
Services honoring Clayton’s life will be held at Faith Family Church today (Wednesday), with visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services to follow. Graveside services where Clayton will be laid to rest will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Moberly immediately following the funeral service. An obituary appears on Page 3.
