The Howard County Clerk’s office has mailed voter registration cards to residents as part of the mandatory canvass process required by state and federal law.
Clerk Shelly Howell explained that while the cards cannot be used as identification at the polls, they serve several important purposes. They help maintain accurate voter records and may be used as proof of residency for other official needs, such as renewing a driver’s license or providing information to state agencies and universities.
Residents who receive a card are asked to review it carefully for accuracy, paying special attention to the name and mailing address.
“If you find any errors, please contact my office immediately, and don’t wait for election day to correct those errors,” Howell said.
If a voter registration card is returned as undeliverable, the voter will receive a form that must be completed and returned promptly so the record can be updated. The cards are not forwardable through the mail.
Anyone with questions may contact the Howard County Clerk’s office at 660-248-2284.
