Doris Elizabeth Smith, 94, of Fayette, passed away December 20, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Doris was born in Woodlandville, Mo., on August 6, 1931, a daughter of Virgil and Beulah Trimble Hill. She married Lowell W. Smith on May 3, 1951, and he survives at their home. Doris had formerly attended First Baptist Church, Faith Family, and Grace Fellowship, all in Fayette. She loved farm life and being a mother. Her favorite activities included counted cross-stitch, knitting, and sewing. She made much of the clothing for her family when they were growing up. She also loved the family animals, especially her current canine friend, Misty.
Doris is survived by her husband, Lowell; her children, Glenna Callen (Rodney), Randall Smith (Jeanette), Kenneth Smith (Susann), Lora Vanbeek, and Lisa Barnes; grandchildren, Matthew Callen, Clayton Callen, Aaron Smith, Adam Smith, Aura Hinds, Abigail Smith, Peter Smith, Elizabeth Vanbeek, Emily Vanbeek, and James Vanbeek; and by 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Alice Cook and Thelma Koester. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Leon Hill, and a granddaughter, Sarah Smith.
Services honoring Doris’ life were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Grace Fellowship Church, 3184 MO-240, Fayette, Missouri. Visitation was an hour prior to the service.
Burial followed the service at Ashland Cemetery in Fayette.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ashland Cemetery Association.
