Sherri Ann (Weiker) Dobson, age 60 of Fayette, Missouri, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on September 4th, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Sherri was a woman whose life was measured not only in years but in the countless lives she touched along the way. With her unmistakable big smile and contagious cackling laugh, she had a heart that always seemed to have room for one more person. Sherri left an immeasurable impact on her family, her students, and the community she loved so dearly.

For 30-plus years, Sherri devoted herself to teaching elementary school children. Teaching was more than a career to her—it was a calling. She poured her heart into her students, encouraging them, believing in them, and helping shape the young people they would become. Even after retiring from the classroom, Sherri wasn’t quite ready to stop serving the children of her community. She continued one of her favorite jobs by driving a school bus, staying connected to the schools and the students she loved.

Sherri’s dedication to young people extended far beyond the classroom. She was deeply involved in 4-H and FFA, especially in supporting and nurturing the youth involved in livestock. She understood the lessons that agriculture, livestock, responsibility, and hard work could teach a young person, and she took great pride in encouraging the next generation.

Her commitment to her community was evident in the many boards and committees on which she served. Throughout the years, Sherri held numerous roles and offices, always willing to step up, lend a hand, share her ideas, and do whatever was needed to make her community a better place. She didn’t simply participate—she cared deeply about the organizations and people she served.

And then there was the farm. For Sherri, the family farm was more than a place. It was home, a gathering place, a classroom, and a source of countless memories. She was happiest surrounded by the people, animals, and land she loved. Those who knew her will remember seeing her just as she was most comfortable—barefoot in a barn at a cattle show or barefoot somewhere else she probably shouldn’t have been—smiling that big smile and laughing her unmistakable laugh.

Her greatest legacy, however, will not be found in the many positions she held, the years she taught, or the boards on which she served. It will be found in the people she loved and the people who became better because she was part of their lives. Sherri never needed recognition for all that she did. She simply showed up. She taught. She drove the bus. She served. She encouraged. She loved. She raised a family, championed young people, and cared for her community.

Sherri will be deeply missed by her husband, Kevin Dobson; her children Paden (Karissa) Boulden, Ethan (Annie) Boulden, Kayla (John) Morris, and Katie (Ben) Horst; her sisters Susan Selway and Sandra (Kevin) Miller; Uncle Al and Aunt Wanda Lynch; mother-in-law Karen Dobson; brother-in-law Kyle (Lora) Dobson, and sister-in-law Kristin (Greg) Felten; nieces and nephews Tanner (Katelynn) Miller, Reagan Miller, Kylie Selway, Kole (Lyndsey) Felten, Riley (Mollie) Felten, Sawyer Felten, Kaitlin (Austin) Dobson, and Chloe (Trevor) Dobson; grandchildren Mia, Audrey, Rial, Asa, Rhett, Easton, Braxton, Presley, and Beau whom she adored beyond measure; her extended family; countless former students and 4-H and FFA youth; her friends; and the community that was so fortunate to have her.

Sherri Dobson is preceded in death by her mother Virginia Weiker, father Leon Weiker, father-in-law Leon Dobson, and her beloved corgis-Dally and Brittany.

Her smile, her laughter, her bare feet in the barn, and her enormous heart will never be forgotten.

Sherri lived a life of faith, love, service, family, and community.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Howard County Event Center, 239 County Road 401, Fayette, MO 65248.

A memorial service celebrating Sherri’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Howard County Event Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Howard County Fair Development Association for upkeep of the rodeo arena.
