The Fayette Festival of the Arts will return to downtown Fayette on Saturday, August 1, bringing together art, music, food, history, and community spirit in the heart of Howard County.
Sponsored by the Fayette Area Heritage Association (FAHA) in partnership with local organizations and volunteers, the festival has become Fayette’s signature summer event for artists, musicians, vendors, classic car enthusiasts, bakers, quilters, and those looking for a fun family outing.
The historic courthouse square will once again come alive with live entertainment, artisan demonstrations, food vendors, children’s activities, and community exhibits. The festival features performances throughout the day from the courthouse bandstand and lawn, with vendor booths surrounding the historic courthouse.
Those interested in showcasing their talents, products, or organizations at the festival can visit fayettefestival.org to register and view entry requirements.
Artists of all ages are encouraged to participate in the 25th Annual Fayette Art Show, which includes both adult and student divisions. Adult artwork will be exhibited in the Ashby-Hodge Gallery of American Art on the Central Methodist University campus. Student entries will be displayed in the lower level of the First Christian Church, two blocks off the square at 307 North Church Street. The shows provide opportunities for artists to share their work, compete for awards, and be part of one of the festival’s most popular attractions.
Returning attractions include the Mary Jarboe Memorial Cake Show and Auction, the Classic Car Show, Kids Korner activities, and live music. The Peacemakers Quilters will host their annual quilt show in the sanctuary of Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus. This year’s theme is “Stitches and Stories.”
Free shuttle service will be available between the courthouse square and festival locations on the CMU campus. Additional details and schedules are available on the festival's website and Facebook page.
