The Fayette Police Department donated $2,805 toward the Fayette Holiday House. The money was drawn from the proceeds of the department’s annual Pork Steak Dinner, held on Nov. 2.
This marks the fourth year the department has raised funds for the Holiday House, now in its 24th year.
The Christmas Holiday House project distributes toys, games, art supplies, books, hats, and gloves to provide happy holiday celebrations for registered families. Last year, the Christmas Holiday House served 259 children, ages newborn to 12 years, in Howard County. Support for the Christmas Holiday House comes from individuals, church groups, and civic organizations.
So far, 277 kids have registered for this year’s Holiday House distribution, the most ever in the organization’s 24-year history. The distribution will take place on Dec. 13. Fayette police officers traditionally help out with the distribution.
