Fayette Reads Together invites community members to participate in its next public book discussion featuring The Crooked Places Made Straight: Reflections on the Moral Meaning of America by Raphael G. Warnock. How do faith, history, and hope shape our responsibility to one another today? The first discussion will be held on Saturday, August 22, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 300 E. Davis Street in Fayette. Attendees should enter from the lower-level door facing Davis Street.
Rather than discussing the entire book in a single meeting, discussions will take place over two to three sessions, allowing everyone to read at a comfortable pace while engaging in thoughtful and meaningful conversations.
The Crooked Places Made Straight explores the moral and spiritual foundations of America through the lens of faith, history, justice, hope, and our shared responsibility to one another.
Attendees are welcome to bring lunch and enjoy it during the discussion in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Copies of the book may be available through the Howard County Public Library, offering community members the opportunity to borrow a copy rather than purchase one. A limited number of copies are also available for loan from Lue Lockridge-Lane. To borrow a copy or for additional information, please contact Lue at (660) 537-2156 or luelockridgelane@yahoo.com.
Fayette Reads Together is a community initiative dedicated to bringing people together through books that encourage thoughtful dialogue, mutual understanding, and respectful conversations across different perspectives.
Everyone is welcome. Whether you are joining for the first time or returning for another discussion, we invite you to share this journey of learning, listening, and growing together as a community.
