Fayette Together honors local law enforcement on National Appreciation Day

Posted

Fayette Together Board Director Lue Lockridge-Lane, accompanied by volunteer Mike Jackman, delivered donuts and treats to the Fayette Police Department, the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, City Hall staff, and local first responders on Friday, Jan. 9, in observance of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

The treats were co-sponsored by Yummy’s Donuts of Boonville.

Lockridge-Lane said the gesture was intended to recognize and thank local law enforcement officers for their continued service to the community.

“We pause to express our sincere appreciation for your steadfast service and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community,” she said. “Your courage, professionalism, and sense of duty play an essential role in maintaining peace, stability, and trust.”

She noted that the work of law enforcement often involves long hours, difficult decisions, and personal sacrifice, adding that their presence provides reassurance in times of uncertainty and crisis.

Fayette Together is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring people together to build a welcoming, respectful, and connected community. Its slogan is, “Reflections of yesterday and today, shining lights toward tomorrow.”

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day was established in 2015 by multiple organizations, including Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), to express gratitude for law enforcement officers across the United States.
