The GFWC Golden Study Club recently celebrated Missouri Day with the third-grade students at Daly Elementary School. The celebration of MO Day has been a club project for many years and is a state project for all GFWC Clubs.
The celebration of MO Day began in 1915 when a schoolteacher in Trenton thought every teacher should spend a day teaching students about Missouri. October was chosen for the celebration because the famous Missouri author Mark Twain said, “MO was at her best in October.”
This year's presentation included discussions of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers that helped shape our heritage, famous Missourians, big cities, caves, and Missouri symbols. Each student received a gift bag from the club.
