The No. 3 Central Methodist Softball team continued to dominate with two road sweeps over the weekend to remain undefeated in the Heart.

The Eagles defeated the MidAmerica Nazarene Lady Pioneers 6-2 and 2-0 on Saturday and took down the Graceland Yellowjackets 16-5 and 11-2 on Sunday. Central improves its overall record to 29-3 and 10-0 in the Heart of America, while Graceland falls to 18-15 and 5-7 in conference play.

After trailing by a single run for most of the first game on Saturday, Central’s offense caught fire in the fifth when the Eagles plated six runs on three hits thanks in part to two Pioneers’ errors.

MNU scored a run in the bottom half of the frame but could not come any closer, as Central would go on to earn a four-run win.

Fayette native Jordyn Ball continues to impress. The sophomore tossed a complete game and allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out three.

Madison Roberts batted 3-for-4 with an RBI single to lead the offense for the Lady Eagles. Daly Garland picked up two hits in the nine spot, while both Joely Crider and Carly Robbins drove in runners.

Game two saw only two runs scored, both by the Eagles in the third and sixth innings, respectively. Garland recorded an RBI double to left field to score Lauren Hill in the third, followed by an RBI double from Crider to score Madison White in the sixth.

Senior Haile Farris had an outstanding showing in the circle, pitching a complete game shutout to earn her eighth win of the year. She gave up just three hits and one walk while striking out five batters.

The Eagle bats came alive in Lamoni, Iowa, on Sunday. Central plated 16 runs on 20 hits in the first game, including five for extra bases.

Both Kelena Oots and Kaysie Jolley picked up four hits in five trips to the plate. Jolley drove in five total runners and recorded a double and a pair of home runs.

Madison Roberts matched Jolley with five RBI while also hitting a two-run blast to left field in the third. Oots finished the day with two RBI singles.

Jordyn Ball tossed six complete innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits while striking out nine. She improves her overall record to 15-0 in 15 starts this season.

CMU opened game two by scoring six runs in the second inning. The top half of the frame was highlighted by five hits, including three RBI singles and a two-RBI single from Elizabeth Palumbo.

Central scored a run in the third and two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to secure a run-rule win in five innings.

The Eagles saw production from up and down their lineup, with eight different players picking up at least one hit. Jolley recorded her third home run of the day in the fourth inning. Palumbo also homered in the fourth to push CMU’s lead to 9-0.

Haile Farris earned her ninth win of the year in the circle, tossing four and two-thirds scoreless innings. She gave up just three hits and a walk while striking out six.

Veronica Dearth recorded the final out of the game in the bottom half of the fifth.

Central remains on the road and will next take on Missouri Baptist for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, April 11, in St. Louis. The Lady Eagles return home on Sunday, April 14, for a doubleheader against Peru State at 2 and 4 p.m.
