February Greetings from the Howard County Library! Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, and Valentine’s Day have now passed, and we observed them all in the library. We are still in the process of celebrating Black History Month with a variety of books on display. On February 13 and 14, a “Make Your Own Valentine” Craft Day was held, and we provided all the necessary materials for making Valentines. Now we are thinking about March and crafts and activities for St. Patrick’s Day!
Meanwhile, we continue to have “Toddler Time” every Thursday at 10 a.m. This is a great opportunity for the little ones to listen to stories, work puzzles, play games, or just have fun.
Our adult book club, “Readers”, met for the first time in 2026. We had a good turnout and enjoyed hearing what those attending had been reading during our time away. We meet on the first Thursday of each month from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., and all are welcome. No certain book is discussed. It is a time for sharing what we’ve been reading or just listening to what others have read.
Another great opportunity offered here at the library is our genealogy department. Kathy Brady is here in the genealogy room, located in the lower level, every Friday at 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. If you have genealogy questions, especially regarding Howard County, she is definitely the person to ask
Of course, we always have wonderful books to check out, a continuous book sale on our lower level, and our children’ s playroom. As you can see, we have something for everyone, so come and pay us a visit.
