Sharon Lee Wittmeyer, of Franklin, passed away on May 10, 2026, at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. She was 81 years old.
Sharon was born in Independence, MO, on December 4, 1944, a daughter of William and Vera Walker Wittmeyer. Prior to retirement, Sharon was employed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for many years.
Her favorite pastimes included talking to her “baby big” brother, Roger, for hours at a time; bird watching; completing word puzzles; spending time in nature; travelling—especially to the Hot Springs in Arkansas; riding horses in her younger years; and life on the farm as a child. Her family remembers her as being very private and generous.
Those cherishing her memory include her son, Michael Burrell (Niki); two brothers, Roger Wittmeyer (Mary) and Philip; grandchildren, Jacob, Nathan, and Brenna Burrell; nieces, Jennifer Moran (Tom) and Karen Wittmeyer; nephew, Greg Wittmeyer; great-niece, Sarah Murdock (Andrew); and two great-nephews, Westley and Orion Moran.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kari Burrell; and a nephew, Vince.
A memorial service honoring Sharon’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
