Organizers are seeking artists’ submissions for the 25th annual Fayette Festival of the Arts scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1.
The silver anniversary celebration will bring together the community to celebrate art and creativity. The adult portion of the show will once again be displayed in the Ashby-Hodge Gallery of Modern Art in Classic Hall on the Central Methodist University campus. The location for the student art show has not yet been determined.
Organizers are encouraging participants to create drawings, paintings, or photographs depicting the City of Fayette. The mayor's office will present a special monetary prize for the best Fayette-themed artwork, with the winning piece to be displayed in Fayette City Hall.
In the photography category, the Dale Graham Award is presented each year for the top black-and-white photo and includes a monetary prize. The award is named for Dale Graham, a nationally-recognized Fayette photographer.
The adult show will be divided into professional and amateur classifications. The student show will include separate divisions for elementary, middle school, and high school students, based on the entrant’s status during the 2025-2026 school year.
Monetary prizes will be awarded in six categories within each classification: painting in acrylic or oil; painting in watercolor or pastel; drawing in pen and ink, pencil, or charcoal; photography; sculpture; and varied media, which includes computer art, fiber art, and mixed media.
Special awards will also be presented for Judges’ Choice Best of Show and People’s Choice in both the adult and children’s shows.
Entry forms, rules, and information on submission times and locations will be available closer to the event on the Fayette Festival website at www.fayettefestival.org. For more information about the adult show, contact Joe Geist or Tyler Pierson. Patricia Fisher is the contact person for the student show. Email information is available on the contact page of the festival website.
