Ella Doolin of Fayette and Kourtney Strawn, of Harrisburg, are the recipients of Good Citizens Awards from the Howard County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Doolin is the daughter of Emily and Brent Doolin. Strawn is the daughter of Kimbelry Strawn. Each will receive a certificate, a Good Citizens pin, and a monetary award from the Howard County DAR Chapter.
The awards are presented to outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. As a part of the scholarship application, students must complete an essay within a two-hour time limit without the assistance of reference materials. This year’s subject was “Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It.”
Doolin’s essay has been forwarded to the State DAR to represent Howard County.
