Joe and Kelly Vaughn announced on Friday that they will not open the restaurant they had been developing in Fayette due to health, family, and time constraints.
The couple, who own Vaughn Heating & Cooling, sometime early this year planned to open Fly By 5&240, a drive-through and walk-up eatery serving burgers, barbecue, and American fare.
Joe told the Advertiser on Friday that the new building, located on Walnut Street between the Howard County Public Library and the carwash, was 95 percent complete with equipment and furniture in place. It is now up for sale or lease.
“The building will be for sale or leased to someone who is passionate about family, friends, and great food,” he said. The nearly completed facility, including business plans, the name, LLC, and the surveyed parcel, is available as a turnkey opportunity.
Those interested may contact Joe Vaughn at (573) 864-3655.
“It has been a dream of building from scratch/opening up the Fly By 5&240 American restaurant in Fayette,” Joe said. “On behalf of Kelly and I want to thank everyone along the way. Hilderbrand Electric, Miller Construction, GMC Cabinets, Jimmy Campbell, Westhues Architect, Russellbilt Fabrication, U.S. Foods, all of our great employees, family, friends, the City of Fayette, and the surrounding community.”
